Water Pump Bolts Jeep Tj. The fsm says to install the water pump gasket dry and with the silicone bead facing the water pump. Install the pump and hand tighten. Remove the four bolts that attach the water pump to the block. I have an 06 4.0 that i'm replacing the water pump on. The oem bolts have been discontinued. Instead of using a strap wrench i removed one of the bolts of the water pump pulley and put a 0.25 inch pin in the hole catching one. I'm doing the cooling system overhaul and it turns out the old water pump (something aftermarket from po) used bolts of. This weekend i installed a new water pump, but during the process i snapped off one of the bolts. I have a 1999 tj with a 4.0l. I've done my research and feel i have a good grasp, but still confused on what sealant to use on the water pump bolts. The coolant should have corrosion inhibitors but there's probably no circulation down the bolt and i've seen some really bad water. Just a reminder….there are also two that attach the power steering pump bracket to.
